First Steps

• Use the google form to report your progress towards these many tasks.
• Join our slack channel (email me for a invite).
• Contact your mentor to say hello or discuss the sumer research plan.
• You need to sign the Participation Agreement, and email me a scan.
• You will need to submit a W9 Form
• You must be a US Citizen and provide proof with an I9 form and documentation
  • See the USCIS.gov web site for the form and instructions.
  • Email me the completed form and scans of the documents
  • Either a Section A document —
    • a scan of your passport or passport card
  • Or a Section B plus a Section C document —
    • Drivers license or School Picture ID
    • and Social Security Card or Birth Certificate bearing the official seal
• Get a Cane ID and C-Number.
  • Beware! On the response page when enrolled, your C-Number will be displayed. Write it down then! Else it's very hard to get it again.

Travel and Living

• Travel must go through the University Portal (if flying). Please contact me because you will need a guest type account with them.
• Arrive and leave promptly. Arrivals before Saturday, 20 May and departures after Sunday 30 July need special handling.
• Housing are at 4/2's at Lakeside village.
• You will need two cards: at Lakeside you will get a key that opens your door.
  • The room key is given to you at the Lakeside reception when you arrive.
  • The Cane Card (a student or employee ID card) requires you to visit the McKnight building
  • If you losse either card, cost of replacement cards might not be covered by the program.
  • You must return the room key on departing.
• Our airport is MIA. Although it is possible to use the Fort Lauderdale airport, transportation from there to Miami can be difficult.
• From MIA the metro goes to the university, metro stop University.
• We have arranged membership at the university's wellness center.
• Please contact us with your license plate and car make, if you will be needing a parking permit.
