Introduction to Artificial Intelligence:
Famous Figures in AI

Write a one page document about the "Famous Figure in AI" assigned to you below (if your name is not listed, please tell the instructor).

In the essay you must:

• Give a brief personal background for the person.
• Identify the fields of AI the person has contributed to.
• Describe (illustrating some understanding) several particularly important contributions made by the person.
• Give appropriate relevant citations to material (papers, books, etc) written by the person, that describe the "particularly important contributions".
• Identify and discuss other people's work that stimulated and was stimulated by the person's work.

Your document must be word processed (or equivalent - hand written documents are for the computer illiterate). The body must be at most one page, single spaced, 12pt font (I'll ignore anything after the first page, really), with the references on a second page. You should submit one sheet of paper, text on one side and references on the back. Don't forget to put your name on it. You must submit it at the class on 29th January. (and remember that late submissions will generally not be accepted - see the policy in the administration document). Your document will be graded mainly on content, but decent presentation is also expected. It is worth 5% of the course's assessment.
