Terminal Setup Instructions
Mac Instructions
- Click the spotlight search magnifying glass in the upper right of your screen.
- Type Terminal
- Hit Enter
- You're in the terminal!
Start getting comfortable with the terminal!
Learn a text editor like vim / emacs.
Windows Instructions
- Watch the first 5 minutes of this video to get WSL set up: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=av0UQy6g2FA
- You may have to update Windows to get it to work.
- You may have to enable/disable certain things related to virtualization in "Windows Features"
- You may have to enable virtualization settings in your BIOS.
- You're in the terminal!

You can install packages with "sudo apt install ____"
- For instance, you should run "sudo apt install build-essential" to get most of the dependencies for this class.
If you can't get either of these setups working to give you a legit linux terminal or have questions,
you can come visit the TAs.
