The Home Page for Computer Science Comprehensives
The Department of Mathematics and Computer Science at the University of
Miami offers a Master of Science in Computer Science. The requirements
for the degree include classwork, and either a thesis or taking
and passing a comprehensive test of computer science knowledge.
This test is called the comprehensives. Most students select the test
rather than the thesis.
The comprehensives are a three test sequence: a standard core and
two specializations. The specializations are chosen
from a list of departmental determined options.
Courses in the department help a student
prepare for the tests.
