Please, read these instructions to log in to your class account





  • You have a separate account for each computer science class you are taking.
  • Your user name is the first letter of your first name + the first letter of
    your middle name + two first letters of your last name + a class number.
    Your password will be generated automatically and distributed at the beginning of the class.
    If a student takes several computer science classes, initial password will be the same for each class.
    Irina ( room 427, irina@miami.edu ) has all initial passwords in case you did not get it during your class.
    Students, who registered late, has to request an account by e-mail to irina@miami.edu.
    Please provide your class #, C number and a full name
    For example:
    John David Smith from CSC234 name will be assigned a user name jdsm234. Albert J. White from CSC120 will be assigned a user name ajwh120
  • If you do not have a middle name, your user name is the first letter of your first name + 3 frist letters of your last name.
    For example:
    The user name of Valery Pandre from CSC400 will be vpan400

  • If you do not have a middle name AND your last name consists of less than 3 letters, your user name will be the first two letters of
    your first name + the first two letters of your last name
    For example:
    The user name of Yan Li from CSC233 will have user ID yali233

  • If your name does not fall into any of these categories, please see Irina Kaliman in room 427 ( across the Linux Lab ) or e-mail me at irina@miami.edu


    NOTE!
    Please change your initial password after you log in using the command yppasswd. Follow the instructions in http://www.cs.miami.edu/~irina/password.html
    Note, that we are now using a student ID not a Social Security Number.
