CADE-14 SCUBA Diving

The Great Barrier Reef is a world famous SCUBA diving location. For certified divers, you will have an opportunity to dive the reef on the excursion to the Great Barrier Reef. For those who are not certified but would like try it out, you will have the opportunity to do a resort dive (a short dive under instructor supervision) on the excursion. For many people the excursion will not be enough, so I am organizing a three day dive trip for Monday 21st July to Wednesday 23rd July, aboard the ProDive boat Running Free.

The ProDive trip will leave at 6:30am on the Monday morning, go to Wheeler Reef, Davies Reef, Little Broadhurst Reef, and (weather permitting) the Yongala Wreck. The trip returns about 5:00pm on the Wednesday. There is time for seven day dives and two night dives on this trip. For certified divers it will cost AU$395, including all dive gear. Certified divers can do their PADI Advanced Open Water certification for only AU$20 extra. For those who are not certified, you may obtain your PADI Open Water certification by getting your dive medical sometime during the conference (AU$50), attending classroom and pool sessions on the Saturday and Sunday between the conference and the trip, and completing the certification on the trip (you should complete by Tuesday lunch time, so that you can dive as a certified diver for the rest of the trip). The cost for the Open Water course and trip is AU$450, including all dive gear.

If you are interested in joining this trip, please email me (geoff@cs.jcu.edu.au) for more information and booking.
