CGSC Hurricane Instructions for Staff
Preparation for the Storm
- Dock and Coaching Staff move small boats, masts, booms, and sails,
upstairs.
- Dock Staff, Coaching Staff, and volunteer members move large sail
boats to safe haven.
- Flying Scots to members
- Ensigns to Coral Gables waterway
- Beneteaus to Dinner Key
- Dock Staff move floating docks out to shallow and protected moorings.
- Dock Staff, Coaching Staff, and volunteer members move powerboats to
garage, personal homes, or other safe place.
- Dock Staff, Maintenance Staff, and volunteer members move power tools
to upstairs or box truck.
Things that can tolerate rain can stay on the balcony.
- Office Staff and Dock Staff move Ganaral Manager's and Dock Office's
contents upstairs.
- Maintenance Staff remove fan blades from fans on balcony.
- Dock and Maintenance Staff bring all hoses from dock into dock office.
- Dock and Maintenance Staff strap down all things that might move
around in surge, including the dumpster, vending machings, ice machine,
ice freezers, fuel cabinets, ...
- Coaching staff strap down all movable items (racks, etc.) beneath
clubhouse.
After the Storm
- Dock and Coaching Staff move launch from garage, personal home, or
other safe place.
- Dock and Coaching Staff move small boats, masts, booms, and sails,
downstairs.
- Dock Staff, Coaching Staff, and volunteer members move large sail
boats from safe haven.
- Dock Staff move floating docks back from shallow and protected moorings.
- Dock Staff, Coaching Staff, and volunteer members move powerboats from
garage, personal homes, or other safe place.
- Dock Staff, Maintenance Staff, and volunteer members move power tools
from upstairs or box truck.
- Dock Staff to coordinate with Strip Chair to move Flying Scots
from personal homes or other safe place.
