CGSC Hurricane Rules and Procedures
- The Vice Commodore is responsible for Hurricane Procedures, and their
execution.
If the Vice Commodore is unavailable, the Commodore is responsible.
If the Commodore is unavailable, the Rear Commodore is responsible.
- The staff will execute the Hurricane Procedures, under the leadership
of the General Manager and the various department heads.
- Other club members, including bridge and board members, must support
but not interfere with the execution of Hurricane Procedures.
All questions and suggestions should be addressed to the Vice Commodore
and General Manager.
- Club staff are not available for hire to help members once the club
has commenced
Preparation for the Storm.
Staff are employed by the club, and must work exclusively for the club.
July (before the start of the Hurricane Season)

- General Manager to send out
Hurricane Preparation instructions for Members.

- Dock and maintenance staff to ensure all CGSC boats are ready for an
evacuation.
- Dock and maintenance staff to ensure all CGSC trailers are in working
order.
- General Manager to ensure garage is booked for powerboats.
- General Manager and Dock Master to ensure Dinner Key is booked for
Beneteaus.
- General Manager and Dock Master to confirm where club boats will go,
and alternatives for those that might not be possible (e.g., if
Coral Gables Waterway is full).
Vice Commodore
- Arrange Hurricane Preparation seminars
for mid-June and start of July.
- With the Strip Chairman, compile a list of members are willing to tow
and/or store club boats on the strip in the event of a storm.
Provide their names and contact information to the General Manager.
- Compile a list of members who are willing to tow Youth Program coach
powerboats to the parking garage (or other locations if necessary).
Provide their names and contact information to the General Manager.
- Compile a list of members who are willing to move club equipment (dock
boxes, fuel containers, power tools, generators, etc.) to the safe
storage space

boats/equipment, to confirm their availability.

- Dock Staff start shuttle service from the Coral Gables Waterway back
to CGSC, and to shore at Marine Stadium.
- General Manager contacts members who have volunteered to tow/move/store
boats/equipment, to schedule their help (normally for when a Hurricane
Watch is expected).

strip/rack agreement, and send violation notices signed by the
Vice Commodore.

and convey to the General Manager for violation notices.
- Recruit members to repair damage
- Ensure toilets are working
- Arrange food and drink with Bar Staff
